OP angie_new Newbie A Joined: Nov 2022 Posts: 4	I am using BiaB 2021 on a MacBook Pro and would like to know whether it is possible to import WAV files with stem separation of the individual instruments, and then may be mute some instruments etc. I have managed to import a WAV file but it wouldn't separate the individual instruments

Chantelle - PG Music PG Music Staff Joined: Oct 2020 Posts: 836	Once a song has been mixed together in a single audio file, the instruments cannot be separated by any audio software. MIDI files on the other hand, if they are saved as "Type 1", then the instruments can be separated out on separate racks. Best, Chantelle

OP angie_new Newbie A Joined: Nov 2022 Posts: 4	But there are several special tools like "RipX Deep Remix" where you can import WAV-files and the program separates the tracks (see various Youtube-videos), I am just wondering whether such a function is also possible in BB

justanoldmuso Veteran J Joined: Jan 2020 Posts: 2,705	Angie. you can make a wish for unmix software in the pg wish list section. i would love to see such a feature integrated in both pc and mac pg products, and have made such a request in the past. i have old stereo song masters from old recording studios i would like to remix and use pg products with. i suspect we will find unmix tech will work on some song masters better than others depending on the song and resulting artifacts. ps for anyone interested heres one of various articles comparing unmix products and testing. https://musictech.com/guides/buyers-guide/best-stem-separation-tools/ happiness om Last edited by justanoldmuso; 11/04/22 05:02 AM. OP angie_new Newbie A Joined: Nov 2022 Posts: 4	Thanks a lot, for the moment it is helpful for me to know that it is not yet possible to unmix with pg products so I can stop searching in BB functionality. I will post my wish in the forum section as suggested.
